Follow the steps as advised below to learn how to secure your account:
Note: These are useful tips can be applied to everywhere, not just your Hashnest account. Remember you are responsible for your own account security!
1. Use a strong password.
Hashnest uses a password strength checker to indicate how strong is your password. We recommend that you create a password that is difficult to guess. Alternatively, you can use a password generator to acquire a strong password. But please remember or store your passwords privately, just in case you forget them.
When creating a password, you are advised to use eight or more characters and include upper and lowercase letters, and at least one number. You can also add extra characters and punctuation marks to make your password even stronger.
Never use the same password for other accounts.
2. Change your password periodically.
Change your password regularly so that even if someone finds an old, saved password, it will no longer be useful. Also avoid using or recycling old passwords.
3. Protect your account with 2FA.
Read more about 2FA options Hashnest has here. Setting up 2FA ensures that you are the only person who can access your account, even if someone else knows your password.
4. Check for encryption and SSL.
All websites, including Hashnest, use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to protect your privacy. In your browser, look for in your browser when accessing your account to know your session with the website is fully encrypted and secure.
4. Never share your account information with anyone else.
Don’t share your account details with other people, even family members.
Without proof of your identity, Hashnest support team request for more account information or help you reset a password or perform any other actions on your account.
5. Log out of your account when not in used.
Always sign out when your session is complete to prevent other people from accessing your account.
6. Set up and recognise email alerts for suspicious activities.
Every time you log in to your Hashnest account, we will send a confirmation email to you automatically which says “Login Successful”. If you did not log in, contact us immediately.
If you log in using a different IP address, we will send email to you automatically. If you did not log in, click the link provided in the email and contact us immediately.
Please also change all the passwords including trade PIN immediately and reset your 2FA if you had not done so.
You do not need to reply these emails which are automatically triggered. However, feel free to contact if you suspect that your account security is found to be vulnerable.
